On Thursday, October 24, at 19:00., the book “Els initiais del Cant Coral al País Valencià” by Josep Guia Marín is presented in the Fan Set bookshop.

The event will involve Pasqual Pastor, a music teacher; Josep Guia, author of the book and Maite Simón, managing editor of PUV. This book is very visual, in fact it is the corrected and augmented edition of the 125th anniversary commemorative exhibition of the Orfeó Valencià El Micalet (1893-1905).  For this reason, the introductory texts are combined with the press clippings of the time and the related images.  A book that facilitates direct access to primary sources, where the reader will find many unpublished news about Valencian choirs and choral societies, also known as orfeones. It presents chronologically and thematically the evolution of the initial choral movement throughout the Valencian Country, from Vinaròs to Alcoi and Alicante, although it focuses on the city of Valencia and, specifically, on its reference orfeón: El Micalet. Likewise, the reader will be able to see how that choral movement, mainly working-class people with republican ideology, received the initial thrust of the Orfeones and the Catalan choral groups, especially of the Cors de Clavé.
