Following with the R&D Conference series in the Department of Computer Science, this Friday 7th of April at 15:00 in the classroom 2.1 of the ETSE – UV, it will take place the conference called Integration of virtualized GPUs into cloud computing infrastructures presented by Prof. Dr. José M. Claver and Prof. Dr. Juan Gutierrez, members of the research group HiPIS.

Cloud computing involves many areas of computer science: the underlying infrastructure, the configuration of the distributed components, resource virtualization (network and computing elements), patterns to create applications, service development, distributed storage, etc.

From the point of view of the cloud provider, the goal is to exploit the available physical resources: on a generic physical machine that runs an hypervisor it is possible to launch several virtual machines used by different users (and each one with its own operating system and its own applications). For users, the cloud offers the access to resources instantaneously in a pay-per-use basis.

All the big companies in the IT field offer public clouds that incorporate services such as: predefined virtual machine images, data replication, scalability, elasticity, predefined virtual clusters (for instance, with Hadoop and all its ecosystem), etc. This allows users to migrate, or to adopt,
