The director of the Levante-EMV newspaper, Lydia del Canto, inaugurated this year's Claustre Obert program with the conference 'Transforming society. The role of the Media' in the Aula Magna of the Cultural Center La Nau.

La Nau of the University of Valencia hosted the conference 'Body of pregnant woman without embryo. Literature and motherhood ', by the painter, writer and illustrator Paula Bonet in the cycle 'Women creators', organized by the European School of Thought Lluís Vives.

Over the past years, illustration has acquired great importance and is evident in every communication channel, as well as in the social scene. Valencia is, along with other Spanish cities, a good example of city that nurtures its cultural offer with all sorts of illustration and comic related events.

Before such booming scenario, this exhibition aims to make visible the role of women in the profession based in the Community of Valencia. Why another illustration exhibition? Is it necessary to make a genre division to make female illustrators’ work visible? Absolutely, yes.

The possibility to create bridges that favour the contemporary creativity transcends the unique and ephemeral support to the artists. The combination of public and private institutions together with the labour of the galleries is necessary to develop a commitment with the future of the plastic promotion and the thinking. The Acquisition Prize Cañada Blanch Foundation was born from this idea with the aim of promote and value artistic projects of Valencian galleries within the public academic framework that would allow its approach with the citizenship.
