  2. To develop didactic materials and resources for primary school classes.
  3. To promote project-based work and PSA in secondary education.
  4. To approve the work done by the University in schools and institutes, in order to increase scientific vocations in the fields of Biology and Geology.
  5. To introduce students to the public exhibition and dissemination of their work.

DESCRIPTION:

The projects will be carried out by secondary education students led by a supervisory team made up of a university lecturer, a secondary school teacher and a degree student, the team coordinator and promoter of the project as part of their Final Degree Project (TFG). The aim of these projects is to develop a model, model, workshop, manipulative experience, guided tour, etc... to introduce a phenomenon or concept of natural sciences (biology or geology) to primary school students. The team will be advised by a primary school teacher, as he/she knows first-hand the level of the pupils who are the ultimate target group.

STAGES:

The projects will be developed over the course of a school year and will consist of different stages, which are detailed below (the duration and timing of the stages is approximate and will depend on each specific project):

  • Planning of the idea and theme (September-September): In this first stage, the aim is to determine which idea, concept or phenomenon is going to be studied by secondary school students and on which they will develop the "Nature Project".  Once the idea has been determined, the working groups and the basis of the collaboration will be established. At this point, it will also be necessary to decide in which year of secondary school the project will be carried out and in which year of primary school it will be carried out.
    • Initial meeting and team building.
    • Registration form, which will include a summary of the project idea and the work team.
  • Project development (January-March): During these months, secondary school students will acquire the necessary knowledge to be able to develop the project.  In order to do so, regular meetings or visits (virtual or face-to-face) will be held. In addition to this, at this stage we will be advised by the Primary School teacher to adapt the concepts to the Primary School level where the project will be carried out. During this stage, the first data on the development of the project and the first conclusions will be collected. Finally, at this stage, the material, physical and personnel resources that will be needed to carry out the project in the schools or institutes and for the final fair where the projects will be exhibited will be described.
    • Follow-up meeting
    • Report on the need for material resources to be able to develop the project at the fair with a budget if necessary.
  • Application of the project to Primary school (April-May): Once the materials are available and the project is finalised, it will be put into practice in the conditions established for each school-school tandem. Students and teachers from the university can be invited to participate in these sessions and enrich the day.
    • Drawing up of the project's file
  • Fair and competition (May): The last stage of the projects will be the presentation of the projects at the fair.  There will be a jury of secondary school and university teachers who will evaluate the projects and how they have been carried out, and will be responsible for awarding the different symbolic prizes to the winners. This fair will be open to primary school pupils from the different schools participating in the projects.
    • Participation in the Fira at Expociència.
    • Evaluation meeting.
