The personalised document of activities is a document where all the activities of interest for the development of the doctoral student will be recorded, as well as the development of the thesis, under the purpose of being reviewed by the thesis supervisor and director, and being assessed by the appropriate Academic Committee of the doctoral programme.

The training activities to be performed by the doctoral student are divided into two types:

  • cross-disciplinary training activities.
  • specific activities of the doctoral programme in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering.

At the end of each academic year, the Doctoral Academic Committee will reflect the activities developed by the doctoral student in the Annual Personalised Document of Activities.

Cross-disciplinary training activities

They are the activities of general training, not specific of the doctoral programme. The cross-disciplinary training activities proposed in this programme are:

Activity Hours Implementation period Activity description Certification
Refworks 2.0 Course 15 1st year
(full-time doctoral programme)
1st year or 2nd year
(part-time doctoral programme)
This is a cross-cutting activity that aims to use the RefWorks programme as a work tool for creating bibliographic databases. It will be taught by the Staff Development Service of the University of Valencia. The Staff Development Service of the University of Valencia shall issue the corresponding assessment certificate.
Transfer of research results 15 1st year
(full-time doctoral programme)
1st year or 2nd year
(part-time doctoral programme)
This is a cross-cutting activity that aims at training in transfer of research results. It will be taught by the Staff Development Service of the University of Valencia. The Staff Development Service of the University of Valencia shall issue the corresponding assessment certificate.

Specific training activities

They are the specific activities of the doctoral programme in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering. The specific cross-disciplinary training activities proposed in this programme are:

Activity Hours Implementation period Activity description Certification
Seminars 30 1st, 2nd and 3rd year
(full-time doctoral programme)
2nd, 3rd and 4th year
(part-time doctoral programme)
The doctoral students should present the most significant results of their work in an organised manner (mainly through PowerPoint presentations or similar) to the research group to which they belong. Students will require the collaboration of their doctoral thesis supervisor for the preparation of the presentation. The doctoral thesis director shall issue an assessment report of the student in relation to the scientific results presentation in the seminar.
Preparation of a Scientific Publication 60 End of the 2nd year
(full-time doctoral programme)
End of the 4th year
(part-time doctoral programme)
The result of the work done by the doctoral student. Students will have to prepare and write a working draft in a format of a scientific publication. The doctoral thesis director shall issue an assessment report of the student in relation to the preparation and quality of the draft submitted.
Follow-up Meetings for R&D&I Activities 30 Quarterly every year
(full-time doctoral programme)
Depending on the doctoral student availability
(part-time doctoral programme)
Doctoral students will meet with their thesis director and research team in order to evaluate the work done to date and plan the future work. In these meetings there will be a special monitoring of the results obtained by the team in R&D competitive projects. The doctoral thesis director shall issue an assessment report in relation to the student participation in the follow-up meeting.
Participation in National and/or International Conferences 30 2nd or 3rd year
(full-time doctoral programme)
Depending on the doctoral student availability
(part-time doctoral programme)
In order to have a more direct and specific information on the current status of their research line, students should participate in scientific conferences of their field. Students will have to prepare and present a contribution to a national/international conference.
This is not a compulsory activity. It will only take place when funding is possible.
The conference organising committee will issue a certificate confirming students participation. The doctoral thesis director shall also issue an assessment report in relation to the students presentation and their participation in the conference.
Mobility: Stays in International Research Centres >150 2nd or 3rd year
(full-time doctoral programme)
Depending on the doctoral student availability
(part-time doctoral programme)
In order that students have a broader vision on how to conduct their research, they should carry out stays in international research centres. This is not a compulsory activity. It presents serious funding problems so only those students whose doctoral programme is funded and have access to foreign aid packages will be obliged to do it. Students in this case who do not carry out this activity will must justify their reasons. This stay should have a duration of at least 3 months if the student wants to apply for the International Certification for Doctoral degrees. At the end of the stay, the receiving centre's supervisor and/or director must confirm the stay and give his/her approval, through a signed document, on the work done by the doctoral student.
