Doctoral Programme in Accounting and Corporate Finances

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

As general entry requirement students should meet some of the assumptions contemplated in the article 6 of the RD 99/2011 or of the second additional provision of such Royal Decree.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Under the competencies laid down in the article 7 of the R.D. 99/2011, 28 January, the Academic Committee recommends a general profile for accessing to our Doctoral Programme, as well as other possible profiles of access, which usually, required the completion of some bridging courses:
a) General or recommended profile. Corresponds to the graduates in Business Management and Administration, Economics or degrees related such as the Undergraduate Degree in Accountancy and Financial and who have completed the Master’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing, and Management Control in the specialisation of research. These students can access directly to the research period of the Doctoral Programme for developing the doctoral thesis. The Master’s Degree mentioned consists of 90 ECTS, and 24 constitute the research specialisation.
Similarly, in this general or recommended profile are included those students holders of a Master’s Degree akin to the Master’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing, and Management Control, we consider akin those Master’s degrees which have a minimum subjects common to the doctoral studies, 60%. These students should have completed research subjects equivalent to the Research Specialisation of our mentioned Master’s degree. The Doctoral Studies Academic Committee is responsible of assessing if these students meet the conditions mentioned.


In the event of holding the Diploma d'Estudis Avançats (DEA-a tertiary education degree)- obtained according to the Royal Decree 778/98– or the Research Proficiency- according to the regulations of the Royal Decree 185/85– , they must have been completed within Doctoral Programmes related to this.
b) Other entry profiles. The students who have completed the Master’s Degree in Accounting, Auditing, and Management Control in a specialisation different to research also can be admitted. Similarly, the students who have completed other official Master’s Degree different to this one, although with similar content, who, equally, have not completed enough research training. To this end, the Master’s Degrees that have a minimum of a 60% of subjects common to ours are considered related, what will be valued by the Doctoral Studies Academic Committee.

All students who access the Doctoral Program must accredit a minimum level of knowledge of English equivalent to B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) which establishes that the student:

• Can understand the main ideas of complex texts that deal with both concrete and abstract topics, even if they are of a technical nature as long as they are within their field of specialization.

• Is able to interact with native speakers with a sufficient degree of fluency and naturalness so that communication is carried out effortlessly by any of the interlocutors.

• Can produce clear and detailed texts on various topics, as well as defend a point of view on general topics indicating the pros and cons of the different options.
