First and runner-up prizes of the 14th contest ‘Proyecto Empresarial Ana M. Aroca Mengual’ from the Faculty of Economics are delivered

On Thursday morning, 12th May 2022, the 10 finalist projects of the XIV contest ‘Proyecto Empresarial Ana M. Aroca Mengual’ have been displayed at the hall of the Faculty of Economics. Among the participants in this edition there have been students of baccalaureate and Ciclos Formativos (Higher Level Training Cycles) from education centres in Aldaia, Alaquàs, La Vall d’Uixó, Xirivella and Valencia.

It is a project coordinated by professor Pedro Canales and promoted by the vice-dean for Participation, Volunteering and Equality and in charge of professor Cristina Crespo. The contest is part of the activities of the Cooperation Commission with Secondary Education, which professor Amparo Gimeno coordinates together with the support of the technical staff of the Faculty of Economics. In addition, it is developed in collaboration with the Delegation for University Integration, the Banco Santander Chair for International Finance and the Faculty of Economics Chair for Business and Humanism.

They jury, which is comprised of professors of the Faculty of Economics as well as the collaborating entities, has appreciated ‘the innovation, feasibility, social commitment, environment awareness and public presentation’, among other qualities.

The three award-winning projects were the following:

  • ‘BIONETEJA S.L.L’, developed by students Sabrina de Jesús Candia, Soraya Cruz, Sonia Catalán and Patricia Ros and directed by professor Inmaculada Pina, from IES Ramon Muntaner, in Xirivella. This project has received the prize sponsored by the Chair for Business and Humanism.
  • AFFE’, carried out by students Lucía Ramírez and Erika Aparisi Dam and directed by professor Víctor Luna, from IES El Saler, in Valencia. They have received the prize sponsored by the Banco Santander Chair for International Finance.
  • MBAO’, designed by students José David Martínez, Pau Andrés and Héctor Gonzalez and directed by professor Luis David García from IES Beatriu Cervera, in Aldaia. They have received the prize sponsored by the Faculty of Economics.

També s'han concedit set accèssits als altres projectes finalistes, en reconeixement al seu excel·lent treball i presentació.

The award ceremony has been headed by Mavi Mestre, principal of the Universitat de València; Francisco Muñoz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics; José Miguel Lorente, regional Institutions Director of Banco Santander; and Deyanira Sánchez, representative of the Chair for Business and Humanism. M. José Llorente, delegate of the principal for UV integration, was also among the attendees. All of them have expressed their congratulations and gratitude to the students and professors for participating and leading projects and have highlighted their courage and academic rigour in defending their business idea and demonstrating their huge business talent.

When taking the floor, the principal and the dean, as well as other members of the table, highlighted that, from this edition onwards, the contest will be named after Ana María Aroca Mengual in memory of her colleague of the Faculty of Economics, who passed away one year ago due to a fatal illness, and in order to acknowledge her collaboration and commitment in the development of this project.
