The technology evolves us and is highly present in our lives. At the same time, its role is acutely decisive in our cities and territories, and the technology must plan how to use it in order to take care and increase the citizens' life's quality with the purpose of endeavouring a sustainable development that allow to maintain this status for a long time.

A smart city is made up of a human system that works through energy flows, materials and services to promote the sustanaible development and life's quality. The approach will be smart through the strategic use of innovation and information and communication technology infrastructures and services for transparent and participatory urban management that responds to society's social and economic needs.

Each population must apply a Smart approach appropriate to its characteristics, focused on the benefit of people and not on technology itself.

The Autumn University of l'Eliana, promoted by the Office of the Vice-principal of Territorial Projection and Society of the Universitat de València, will deal with the current state of technology and the development of Smart Cities, dealing with aspects such as intelligent mobility, the Internet of Things and Big Data and Artificial Intelligence. In addition, it will show the situation of implantation of intelligent territories in l'Eliana, as well as of other populations of the Valencian Community and the rest of Spain.
