School of Engineering host this Friday18th May the 4th Air Fair, a project that include technology and social and creativity development. More than 1.000 students of high school of 45 Valencian institutes show their drones, built during the course, for social and environmental purpose. The aim of the meeting is that students learn to build this kind of unmanned vehicles, for using in a local surrounding.
The Air Fair, promoted by the Universitat de València, Centre of Training, Innovation and Educational Resources (CEFIRE) of the Valencian Government, Las Naves Centre of Innovation (Valencia City Council) and El Caleidoscopio, one of the biggest educational innovation projects in the Valencian Community.
The fair consists of three distinct areas. The first includes 45 stands, one of each centre, where the students exhibit its drones and posters with the suggested applications. The second area consists of three halls which will work simultaneously and in which each centre will present the social advantages of its project. The third area are the tracks were the flying demonstration will take place.
The fair has began at 9h and is expected to end at 13:30. This presentation act has taking place in Assembly Hall of the School of Engineering, at 12:00. In this moment, are talking Pedro Sigler Vizcaíno, head of the Teaching staff Training Service of the Valencian Department of Education, Research, Culture and Sport; Paula Marzal, director of the School of Engineering of the Universitat de València; a representative of the Innovation Centre Las Naves, Ricardo Domínguez, director of El Caleidoscopio and councillors of education of Valencian towns that took part in the Air Fair. The fourth edition of the Aerial Fair started in November and more than 3,000 students and 150 professors from Valencia have taken part.
Drones and projects, which are shown this Friday 18th May, revolve around different objectives: aid to social services, assistance for senior citizen with limited mobility, pest control in fields and aid to farmers, drones of tourist and historical heritage dissemination, and other to help in basic assistance and first-aid in medical services and of rescue at sea. Other objectives of drones that are presented are the aid to fire services, maintenance of urban and historical centres, support in road accidents and the control thereof. Rescue drones and other to provide solutions to different local realities are also shown.
In the project participate the municipalities of Albaida, Albalat del Sorells, Albuixech, Algemesí, Alzira, Ayora, Benifaió, Benifairó de les Valls, Benetússer, Bellreguard, Bétera, Carlet, Catadau, Emperador, el Puig, Foios, Massanassa, Meliana, Mislata, Montserrat, Moixent, l’Olleria, la Pobla de Farnals, la Pobla de Vallbona, Ontinyent, Puçol, Paterna, Requena, Sagunt and Utiel in the province of Valencia. Crevillent, Denia, Mutxamel, Sant Joan d’Alacant, San Fulgencio, Sax y Teulada participate by Alicante and Castellón de la Plana and Benlloch partcipipate in the province of Castellón. City councils have participated from their councillorship and with them “have strengthened its commitment to motivate and promote the scientific and technical knowledge among youngest”, have stressed from El Caleidoscopio.
