The professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Javier Calpe, has been awarded in the Noche de las Telecomunicaciones Valencianas

Javier Calpe Maravilla, professor of the Department of Electronic Engineering of the Higher Technical School of Engineering of the Universitat de Valencia was awarded on 11th July 2019 with the Prize Teleco Honoris Causa at the Noche de las Telecomunicaciones Valencianas.

The awards distinguish one person in Spain that, without being a Telecommunication Engineer, has an important professional career in term of promoting Telecommunication Engineering.

Javier Calpe Maravilla is doctor of Physical Sciences by the Universitat de València (1993) and obtained the Extraordinary Award of the Degree. He is professor of the Universitat de València and is part of the Grupo de Procesado Digital de Señales (GPDS).

He has been the director of the Department of Electronic Engineering. He has been a researcher in 40 projects with private companies and 25 state-funded projects, most of them as main researcher.

Thanks to his work as a head-hunter, the multinational company Analog Devices Inc. (one of the biggest semiconductor producers in the world) chose Valencia as a strategic location for expansion.

The award was given at the closing ceremony of the conference. The President of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, his counsellors and important authorities of the Valencian Government and the academic institutions, representatives of the Professional Schools and telecoms companies were present at the event.
