JOLIN2018 - 3rd International Conference on Innovation in Picture Books – in Catalan Language aims to become a reference in the university field in terms of illustrated books. Understanding these as an inexhaustible source of possibilities both in their textual content, as graphic-visual and in their potential uses inside and outside the classroom.

This event aims to be an open platform for active learning and dialogue between different professionals of enlightened literary creation together with agents of social change. The lines to articulate the three central aspects of the illustrated book are the following:

- Text and literary content

- Illustration and editorial design

- Innovation in the practices with illustrated books

JOLIN2018 is a global initiative since every year it focuses its attention on a country and/or reference language. On this occasion the day is devoted to the Catalan language, so that we have professionals of design and graphic expression of the International School of Photography GrisArt; the Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny d'Alacant (EASDA); the Escola d'Art i Superior de Disseny of Valencia (EASD); comic book illustrators; plastic artists; and experts in the production and training of literary education in both compulsory national and international secondary education, and university professors of the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), the Language and Literature Didactics Departament and the English and German Philology Department, all linked to the Universitat de València.

This event was born three years ago with the vocation to open a space between the academic and the real world around the illustrated book. While expanding the opportunities for dialogue between the different agents involved and reflecting their evolution over time. On this occasion, this day has the full support of the Language Policy Service (Servei de Política Lingüística - SPL).
