Literature written by North American authors and authors of ethnic origin has helped to make visible the stories, cultural practices, epistemologies, concerns, and interests of a large number of communities in the United States since its inception as a nation and especially since the movements in defense of civil rights that emerged during the 60s and 70s. Although many of these authors may already be considered canonical, ethnic literature in the United States continues to be theorized and studied very frequently from the periphery or as a mere multicultural complement to a literary centre of power that continues to be primarily Anglo, white, masculine and heterosexual. The LENA - North American Ethnic Literature Research Group intends to analyze this literary set from several interrelated critical perspectives in a global context with the intention of contributing to its theorization, translation and dissemination in the Iberian Peninsula.
