The Equality Unit of the University of Valencia has a series of Recommendations “Towards equality from language”, made by the professor of Language and Literature Teaching of the University of Valencia, Anna Devís Arbona.
The University of Valencia has two Guides to promote an equal use of language, both for Valencian and Spanish respectively, made by professors: MªJosep Cuenca, Mercedes Quilis and Marta Albelda.

The Organic Law 3/2007, of 22 March, for effective equality of men and women, establishes, in the article 14, General criteria for action of public powers: «The implementation of a gender-neutral language in the administrative field and its promotion in the whole social, cultural and artistic relations».

The autonomic Valencian Law 9/2003, of 2 April, for equality between men and women, in its article 48 about gender-neutral language in the administrative documents, “Valencian public administrations will put into practice the necessary media so that every rule or administrative document respects in their editorial office the relative rules in the use of a gender-neutral language.”

The Equality Plans of the University of Valencia, approved by resolution of the Governing Council, establishes that the University must eradicate the use of sexist language and must:

  • To spread models of good practices in the use of language that make many centres or service of the UVEG
  • To check the administrative documents of the UVEG
  • To correct the use of sexist language in the administrative and academic documentation and in their different supports
