On 30 October 2025 the 2nd Meeting of Young Researchers on Private and Procedural International Law was held at the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València: 'Repensando la vulnerabilidad' (Rethinking vulnerability), an initiative within the framework of the project JUSOST (Justicia sostenible en estado de mudanza global or Sustainable justice in the state of global moving)-CIPROM 2023-64 (GVA).
The session, academically directed by professor Dr. Carlos Esplugues Mota and with Dr. María González Marimón as academic secretary, brought together around fifteen young researchers from 13 Spanish universities, consolidating as a space for dialogue and scientific reflection among new generations of specialists.
Throughout the meeting, three round tables took place, addressing vulnerability from procedural, international and comparative perspectives:
- At Table 1, moderated by Dr. María José Jordán Díaz-Roncero, issues related to the protection of victims of sexual violence, criminal mediation, minors and armed conflict were analysed, as well as the care of vulnerable victims in criminal proceedings.
- At Table 2, moderated by Dr. María González Marimón, vulnerability in cross-border, migratory and digital contexts were explored, focusing on the challenges of contemporary private international Law.
- At Table 3, moderated by Dr. Malgorzata Wegrzak, focused on the vulnerability in contracting, financial transparency, company law and international litigation, paying special attention to situations of structural inequality.
The day concluded with a space for synthesis and closure in which it was emphasised the importance of continuing to do research on vulnerability as a cross-sectional legal category, key to advancing towards a more inclusive, sensitive and sustainable judicial system.
The meeting strengthens one of the fundamental axes of JUSOST project: the construction of a judicial system capable of responding to social, technological and global challenges of the 21st century through interuniversity dialogue and collaborative research.
