Session's programme

Dr Ignacio Colomer Hernández, member of the Sustainable Justice in Situation of Global Change (JUSOST) project, participated last 18th March 2026 in the University Micro-credential at Local Police 4.0 – Artificial Intelligence tools and police management, organised at the University of Jaume I in Castellón.

His intervention, called “Inteligencia artificial, información y datos personales en el ámbito de la policía local” (Artificial Intelligence, information and personal data in the local police field), focused on the analysis, from the perspective of personal data protection, of several systems of Artificial Intelligence currently employed by the local police forces in the exercise of their functions.

During his exhibition, Dr Colomer addressed key issues, such as the use of predictive AI for the planning of patrols and crime prevention, intelligent video surveillance and biometric recognition, as well as the use of generative AI assistants for report writing.

Additionally, he analysed the impact of these technologies on the automated management of files and database cross, the three-dimensional reconstruction of reports by AI, the automatic recognition of registrations and the systems of intelligent traffic management, emphasising the challenges that these tools raise in terms of privacy and legal guarantee.

The participation of Dr Colomer in this training activity reinforces the commitment to the JUSOST project with the study of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence effects in the legal field, contributing to a critical reflection on its responsible implementation in justice and public security systems.
