The Service divides its functions in three areas for action: the Prevention Area, the Environment Area and the Radiation Protection Area.

• The Prevention Area guarantees the appropriate protection of safety and health. Advises and assists the entire university community in order to promote a preventive culture in all its members.
• The main functions of the Environment Area are the environmental management, adjusting the University’s activities to the environment, and the sensitisation of the university community as a driving force for social change.
• The Radiation Protection Area was born with the main aim of organising, advising and controlling the functioning of the University of Valencia’s radioactive facilities.
