PROJECT’S SUMMARIZE

 

The theory of adaptation has been one of the theoretical models most used in Psychology to understand and study subjective well-being (SW) (although its use has been very limited in the Psychology of Work). This theory proposes that people respond to the events of the environment through responses that alter their level of SW in the short term, but eventually adapt to their new environment and return to their baseline SW level. Thus, the theory predicts that it is unlikely to observe changes in the SW of people in a long-term. In spite of the fact that the adaptation has received the support, studies and recent reviews have brought to light a series of problems and limitation that create research’s necessary to determinate:

 

  • The adaptation answers and the changes’ patterns of these SW in front of dynamic stressors. 
  • The variables that have impact on the pattern of changes.

 

The current research project has the purpose of clarifying these questions.

 

PURPOSES

 

Their general purpose is to determine the SW pattern of changes in response to the dynamic work stressors. Their specific purposes are:

 

  1. To determine the pattern changes of the different dimensions of the SW in the work.
  2. To identify the models that describe the relation between the pattern of changes of the of the work stressors considered and the patterns of change of the different dimensions of the SW
  3. To determine if the personality traits (neuroticism and extroversion) have an impact on the relation between the patterns of change of the different dimensions of the SW.
  4. To find out if certain resources available in the work environment (autonomy and social support) influence the relationship between the patterns of change of work stressors and the patterns of change in the dimensions of the BS. 
  5. To determine if different strategies of facing have an impact on the relation between the pattern of changes of the wprk stressors and the pattern of change of the dimensions in SW.

 

In order to achieve these objectives an intra-subject longitudinal research design is implemented, and dynamic analysis methods (Latent Growth Modeling and Dynamic Structural Equation Modeling) are used.

 

SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCES

In each of the years included in the research project development period (2016-2019), scientific conferences have been held. All of them have provided opportunities to present our research work in a forum in which various national and foreign researchers have participated, and have offered the opportunity to discuss and analyze the progress and results of the research work carried out. In these conferences, the doctoral students of the research team have also presented their work. Below we offer information about the sessions held.
