The Institute of Creativity and Educational Innovations came up from the initiative by the Full University Professor of general pedagogy and Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences, Mr. Ricardo Marín Ibañez, and by the Full University Professor of aesthetics of the same Faculty, Mr Romà de la Callle.

The Institute was created the ministerial order on 26 October 1978 (BOE 24 November). In November 1986 was approved the transformation of the University Institute.

It is one of the oldest institutes of the University of Valencia. It has two sections: Educational Innovations and Aesthetic Innovations, which aim to promote and to research basically in the field of education and aesthetics.
