She says:
Although the first mentions of rotifers, the “wheel animalculae” inhabiting almost all types of fresh and saline water habitats, can be find already in the late 17th century, this phylum has been overlooked for a long period of time. Nowadays, due to its great diversity, easy maintenance and many other rotifer features, the interest in rotifers themselves is increasing. But not just that, scientists are using rotifers as model organisms in a variety of research. From ecology studies, through toxicology or aging, to research of development in outer space conditions. Let´s submerge together into the fascinating world of rotifers and discover their lives and deaths in the name of science!
