  The author warns of a dangerous drift fraught with risks in the correct understanding of the LOPDGDD. The first of these consists in losing sight of the profound constitutional meaning of the fundamental right to data protection. On the other hand, the GDPR contains more than 50 references to national legislation. A significant part of the adaptation of the GDPR to national language is to be found in the area of sanctions and there are material aspects of the GDPR that require its insertion into our legal system. That is why underestimating its importance, attributing it a secondary value, relaxing our state of alertness, will be a mistake with tragic consequences.
