The study of metabolism is emerging as a central area of plant biology due to the growing interest in topics such as increasing agricultural production, obtaining crops with higher nutritional value, bioenergy, exploitation of the chemical biodiversity of plants, obtaining phytonutrients or adaptation to climate change.  The manipulation of plant metabolism to achieve some of the applications mentioned above requires a precise knowledge of the functioning of metabolic pathways and the networks that connect them. Our research focuses on functionally characterizing pathways of primary and secondary plant metabolism, studying how they interact with each other, and how they are reprogrammed in response to environmental conditions, especially climate change.
