This seminar, organised through a conference and round table series, has the aim of making a critical reflection on the current condition of the city of Valencia, seen from the perspective of sustainability. A city, ours, which is far from being a city where its government has implemented a set of policies addressed to make it more habitable for its citizens and improve their quality of life. Since many years ago, issues such as the preservation of the fertile regions, public spaces, the human scale, calmed traffic, the water good for drinking and not wasted, environmental education, citizen participation… do not seem to be the main occupation or concern of their political responsible.

From the Estructura de Investigación Interdisciplinar de Estudios de Sostenibilidad (Interdisciplinary Research Structure for Sustainability Studies) of the University of Valencia, with the collaboration of the office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality, we have invited different speakers, people who make research and/or work from the perspective of sustainability, from the urban ecology and the education for a sustainable future, to analyse, assess and make proposals to improve the current condition.
