  • May 22nd, 2023

26 authors have been awarded with the Josep Martínez Bisbal Awards, aimed at boosting the use of Catalan and language quality in academic communication and scientific dissemination. The award-winning publications cover the areas of archaeology, art, astronomy, biology, law, economics, pharmacy, history, nursing, pedagogy, journalism, political science, psychology and sociology, among others.

These awards are aimed at people involved in research or science communication at the University of Valencia. The main requirement for candidates is that publications (papers, books and chapters of books for academic communication and science dissemination) must be written in Catalan, although they may contain citations from texts in other languages.

The overall amount of the awards is €20,000, with a maximum of €1,500 for each award winner, based on the language quality and the volume of the text in Catalan of the publications submitted.

Check the award-winning publications on the University's official board or here. For more information about the awards, please go to www.uv.es/llengues/premispublicacions.

Josep Martínez Bisbal

The awards are given in memory of Josep Martínez Bisbal (Catadau, 1950-València, 2021), professor of Philosophy and vice-rector for Studies at the University of Valencia between 1990 and 1994, who played an active role in the democratisation of the institution and in the improvement of the quality of education.
