Rafael Marimón is a full professor of Commercial Law at the Universitat de València and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law at the UVEG. He has recognised five six-year terms (four for research and one for transfer) and five five-year terms for teaching.

He directs the Revista Española de Capital Riesgo and co-directs the Revista de Derecho del Sistema Financiero and the UV LegalTech Lab.

His teaching experience extends to undergraduate degrees, official Masters, specific degrees and doctoral studies, having also occasionally worked in the international field.

In the professional field, he has worked in the legal department of Ibercaja, has been of counsel of the firm Yurisgroup Legal and advisor to the consumer association Apabanc, through two contracts of the OTRI of the University with support in art. 83 LOU. He is currently an independent director on the General Council of the Instituto Valenciano de Finanzas (IVF), where he chairs the Audit and Compliance Committee and is a member of the Risk Committee. He is a non-practising member of the ICAV.

His research has focused particularly on banking law, a field in which he has published several books (El crédito documentario irrevocable, Tirant lo Blanch, 2001; La tutela del cliente en el contrato bancario electrónico, Thomson-Aranzadi, 2010) and a large number of articles and contributions to collective works. In recent years he has edited the following books on the subject, published by Thomson Reuters-Aranzadi: La regulación del Shadow banking en el contexto de la reforma del mercado financiero, 2015; La Oferta Pública de Subscripción de Acciones desde la perspectiva judicial. Analysis of the 2011 Bankia IPO, 2016; Shadow banking y financiación empresarial alternativa, 2017; Problemas actuales y recurrentes en los mercados financieros, 2018; and Retos del Mercado Financiero Digital, 2020.

Other fields in which he has worked include company law (La asistencia financiera de una sociedad limitada a sus socios, administradores y otras sociedades de su grupo, Aranzadi, 2nd ed., 2010); business networks; foundations ("El patronato", in AA.VVV, Comentarios a la Ley de Fundaciones, Tirant lo Blanch, 2008); unfair competition ("Las prácticas comerciales desleales con consumidores", in Tratado de Derecho de la Competencia, Tirant lo Blanch, 2014); insolvency law (with various contributions to the book Concurso y Jurisprudencia, Tirant lo Blanch, 2017, and to the Comentarios al articulado del Texto Refundido de la Ley Concursal, Sepin, 2020); insurance law and trademark law.

He has participated in 14 research projects, and is currently the Principal Investigator of the R&D Project on "New challenges in financial markets: the regulation of Shadow banking, venture capital and FinTech" (DER2017-84218-C2-1-R), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the leader of the DERMERFIN Research Group of the UV (GIUV2017-3489).

He has carried out several teaching and research stays in Munich, Hamburg, Vienna, London, Edinburgh, Toulouse, Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) and Cuenca (Ecuador).
