The Historical Library of the University of Valencia commemorates the Valencian Book Day 2022 with the activity "Llegim rondalles! Continuous reading of the "Rondalles valencianes" by Enric Valor".

Once again this year, the Biblioteca Històrica, committed to the dissemination of the collection it preserves, is organising this initiative with the aim of bringing the University's bibliographic heritage closer to society as a whole and promoting knowledge of Valencian language and culture.

After having dedicated the Day of the Valencian Book to "Tirant lo Blanc" by Joanot Martorell, "Vita Christi" by Isabel de Villena and "Matèria de Bretanya" by Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas, the selected author this year has been Enric Valor i Vives.

"Llegim rondalles!" brings together, in the Duc de Calàbria hall, more than a hundred people to give voice to the characters of Valencian folklore immortalised by the pen of Enric Valor. With this initiative, the Biblioteca Històrica contributes to the recognition of the invaluable work undertaken by the writer. The son and other members of Enric Valor's family will be present at the event.

Throughout the day, the micro-exhibition "Rondalles i rondallistes a la Biblioteca Històrica" can be visited. The exhibition includes pieces such as the work "Rondàlla de rondàlles..." by Luis Galiana y Cervera (Valencia, 1768), "Aplech de rondayes mallorquines" by Antoni Maria Alcover (Mallorca, 1904) or the three volumes of the first edition of the "Rondalles valencianes" by Enric Valor that the library preserves with an autograph dedication.

During the day, the Colla de Dolçaines i Percussió de la Universitat de València will perform a selection of typical pieces of traditional Valencian music.

This reading in the unique setting of the Duc de Calàbria hall will once again be, for all participants, a stimulating and satisfying experience, an opportunity to enjoy the works read in a historical atmosphere imbued with its own personality.

All the activities will be free and open access and will take place on 16 November in the Duc de Calàbria room of the Biblioteca Històrica (La Nau Cultural Centre), from 10:00 to 20:00.
