Institutional archive RODERIC

We turn a decade old. On September 30 2008 the Governing Council signed an agreement that joined the Berlin Declaration on Open Access and consequently created the institutional archive RODERIC.

RODERIC has grown to the point of being among the ten archives with more content of the Spanish universities, according data from REBIUN (the Spanish University Libraries Network). If we focus only on research-related content, main objective of any institutional archive, RODERIC is placed 4th on the list and is the only one to offers only complete works and is 100% open access.

Another area in which RODERIC excels is dissemination of bibliographic heritage through Somni. Somni offers innovative and unique services for researchers that are unique within the digitalized collections of the Spanish universities. For instance, RODERIC offers high-quality pictures for every document (from printed text to cartographic material), multilevel description for the works (intern structure and logic and description of individual elements like miniatures), open data distribution with METS (Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard), usage of linked data to broaden the works, dissemination of pictures via WikiMedia Commons and more things to come...
