The libraries of the University of Valencia celebrate the Book Day

  • April 23rd, 2021

Libraries celebrate Book Day with different outreach activities. Education Library, in addition to preparing a new “Point of interest” with literary recommendations, has launched the “2x1” campaign, and each reading post offered on April 23 will be accompanied by a social-themed story. The user can return it when leaving the library or take it home. The "Espai digital" is inaugurated at the Library of Health Sciences, where they will expose electronic books of all grades and the news of the collection, together with their QR code to be able to access from the mobile.

The Historical Library celebrates on its Facebook account the literary contest: "The Book Day: a day to discover the classics", to get closer to the classics through book fragments. Throughout the day, they will publish various posts in which you can demonstrate your literary knowledge and win prizes.

On the Botanical Garden twitter, he has published readings recommended by his staff throughout the week. We have shared these posts on our library twitter account. The Science Library has created a collage with books on reading and libraries.

Humanities Library has prepared the virtual exhibition: "Carlos Giménez: the cartoon of a country"  dedicated to the comic author Carlos Giménez, known for reflecting his childhood to the Social Aid homes in post-war Spain in his series Paracuellos. The exhibition, in which Álvaro Pons, director of UV Aula de Comic, has participated, can be visited here and from our exhibition website.

All SBD libraries want to start you on a literary journey. Since this year we cannot travel as much as we would like, from the libraries of the University of Valencia we want to help you with our recommendations for traveling by reading. A good book can transport us to another reality and will always be a good travel companion.

In our YouTube video or on the Pinterest board you can see some of the books in our libraries with which you can travel much further than any means of transport. They can even move us in time, to the past or to the future. For now, they take us to the place that the librarians have indicated on the label. Do you want to join us?
