The Ministry of Culture and Sports has chosen the Library and Documentation Service of the Universitat de València to digitalise 280 pieces of its collection. This equals 150,000 pages and constitutes a digital resource to be incorporated in different bibliographical platforms such as the Biblioteca Virtual del Patrimonio Bibliográfico, Hispana, Europeana and the digital library Somni of the Universitat de València.

These 280 books are of public domain and do not have copyrights. They come from editions of the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Some authors of the books are Ramon Llull, Joan Timoneda, Lluis Vives, Hipócrates, Palmireno, Julio Verne, Robert Boyle or San Vicente Ferrer. The pieces belong to different fields of knowledge: Medicine, Science, Literature, Cartography... They are all available in Trobes, the catalogue of the Universitat de València.

The samples are mostly collected in the Historical Library of the Universitat de València. Nonetheless, collections belonging to the Humanities Library, the Social Sciences Library, the Health sciences Library and the Comedy-historical Library will be digitalised too.

The digitalisation of 150,000 pages and the creation of the digital resource will be possible thanks to the collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sport.

An agreement between the Universitat de València and the Ministry has been signed to conduct this project. It indicates a maximum of 4 years to finish the task.
