On Thursday, 11 December, the Paraula viva project, run by the Social Sciences Library, will feature testimony from Mónica Torres, photographer for the newspaper El País. 

Mónica Torres (Picanya) experienced firsthand the anguish of that night and the tragedy of the following days: "We have been without help for four days. As there were robberies in the early days, we had to sleep in the house without doors and with broken windows, in fear. There was no water, no electricity, no one to help us. We went out into the street, not knowing if our neighbors had died. Everything was flooded, covered in mud, impossible to walk on, access to homes was blocked, and people were trapped inside."
