Invitation to the presentation
Presentation of the book

The book “From Neurons to Galaxies, Is the Universe a Hologram?” by Adolfo Plasencia Diago will be presented on Thursday 26 January at 7:00 p.m. at the Corte Inglés Colón in Valencia.

Science today is more of a collaborative process than individual "eureka" moments. This book publishes a series of interconnected dialogues with leading thinkers who are asked to reflect on key questions and concepts about the physical world, information and intelligence, in which this kind of synergy and interconnectedness between disciplines is recreated. These thinkers provide both specific observations and broader commentaries on the intellectual traditions that have addressed these questions, and in doing so reveal a rich lode of interacting ideas. The persistent paradox of our time is that, in a world with unprecedented access to information, many of the most important questions remain unresolved.

These conversations, led by science writer Adolfo Plasencia, reflect this circumstance as scientists and humanists discuss topics such as intelligence, consciousness, global warming, energy, technology, matter, the nanocosmos, the mind, the possibility of another Earth, the change of the past, art and many more themes found in the philosophical curvature: “From Neurons to Galaxies, Is the Universe a Hologram?” The dialogues discuss fascinating aspects of the physical world such as the function of the quantum bit, the cosmology of the primordial universe or the wisdom contained in ancient stone carvings. They offer optimistic but reasoned views of technology, considering the culture of convergence, algorithms, the inequality Beauty ≠ Truth, the ethics of hackers, artificial intelligence and other topics.

From a diverse range of disciplines, they bring different perspectives, for example, on intelligence, addressing aspects such as the neurophysiology of the brain, affective information, collaborative innovation and the wisdom of crowds. This volume is the 'extended' Spanish version of the book “Is the Universe a Hologram? Scientists Answer the Most Provocative Questions”, published with a prologue by Tim O'Reilly by MIT Press and Oxford University Press on their online platform.
