Regulations for accreditation

Application form

1. On the accreditation process

For the purposes of this regulation, the term “accreditation” is understood as the process by which permanent training activities are evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively, while the term “certification” is understood as the process that recognises by written evidence the participation in a training activity.

These evaluation processes need to ensure the quality of the certified and accredited training activities and, at the same time, to quantify their duration. For this reason, all training activities accredited by the Staff Development and Educational Innovation Service (SFPIE) and the certificates issued by the technical and management services of the Manuel Sanchis Guarner Centre for Education and Quality of the University of Valencia will include necessarily:

  • Mechanisms to evaluate the training activities (their organisation, teaching staff and content, at least).
  • Mechanisms to control the participation and/or assistance of their users.

2. Accreditation of training activities

The processes to accredit the training activities are different depending who organises them:

  1. Centers, faculties, schools, departments, institutes and service of the University of València (UV).
  2. Institutions outside the UV, but who have signed a framework agreement or an agreement for specific collaboration in training activities with the UV.

2.a. In the case of trianing activities organised by the faculties, schools, centres, departments, institutes and services of the UV, the procedure is as follows:

  1. The people responsable for organising the training activity, who must be part of the UV, will send the application form, which is available on the website of the SFPIE, to acreditacio.sfp@uv.es.
  2. The application must include the following data about the training activity:
    • Date and place of the activity.
    • Mode: in-person, online or mixed.
    • Exact duration and detailed programme.
    • Specific type of participants (who must be part of the SFPIE).
    • Scientific committee and/or organising committee (the scientific committee is mandatory for the accreditation of conferences, congresses or symposia; while the organising committee is always mandatory).
    • Funding sources.
    • Mechanisms to control assistance and evaluate the training activity.
  3. The SFPIE is responsible for the training of the UV staff and of non-university teaching staff. This means that no training activities for university students or groups other than PAS and PDI will be accredited. Only in special and justified cases the Service may accept up to 20% of participants that do not meet these requirements.
  4. Those responsible for the organisation of the training activity will detail the specific procedure to control attendance, especially in conferences, congresses and symposia. Likewise, they will commit to controlling attendance and the effective participation of enrollees. This documentation must be submitted to the SFPIE after the activity.
  5. Applications will be made at least one month in advance of the start date of the training activity to be accredited.
  6. The Coordinating Board of the SFPIE will review the application and propose to the SFPIE management a resolution on the accreditation within a period of three weeks after the reception of the application.
  7. The certification will follow the usual procedures of the Manual Sanchis Guarner Centre for Education and Quality regarding management, fees and documentation.
  8. A training activity will be accredited only after the person concerned has participated in a minimum of 85% of its duration, which will be controlled and documented by the applicant for accreditation.
  9. Only training activities longer than 15 hours and with more than 20 participants (excluding those who participate as speakers and committee members) will be accredited.

2.b. In the case of training activities organised by institutions outside the University of Valencia and with which there is a collaboration agreement, accreditation will be carried out as set out in the agreement.
