CHOICE OF SUBJECTS
IMPORTANT: READ IT BEFORE DOING THE ENROLMENT
Below is explained how the subject group choice must be done. Moreover, additional information is offered.
1. Nowadays, two specialisations (or pathways) are offered in “Biodiversity specialisation and Animal Conservation” and “Specialisation in Diversity and Ecosystems’s Conservation”. “Biodiversity specialisation and Vegetable Conservation” are not still offered in 2018-2019.
Once the specialisation is chosen, IT IS COMPULSORY TO STUDY FOR THE 36 ECTS CREDITS OF THIS SPECIALISATION.
Compulsory subjects of every specialisation are the following:
BIODIVERSITY AND ANIMAL CONSERVATION:
Ichthyology
Herpetology
Biology and Bird Conservation
Biology and Mammalian Conservation
Arthropod and terrestrial ecosystems: Continuous evolution
Nematology
Ecology and marine invertebrates systematic.
Pests: The control of harmful overpopulation
Ecology of behaviour
Ecology and host-parasite relationship evolution
Functional morphology of vertebrate
Animal adaptations to marine environment
DIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS’ CONSERVATION
Geographical information systems
Environmental impact evaluation
Ecosystem managements
Environmental protection
Impacts in aquatic medium
Impacts in terrestrial environment
Modelling
Methods for ecosystems’ study.
2. The rest of subjects up to 48 ECTS Credits , can be chosen among the OPTIONAL SUBJECTS OF THE SAME SPECIALISTION, AND/OR THE COMPULSORY OR OPTIONAL OF ANOTHER SPECIALISATION. The 12 ECTS Credits remaining until 60 correspond to Master’s Degree Final Project.
3. In ‘’Módulos’’ tab, the compulsory subjects that come to 36 ECTS and those which compose the optional module in every specialisation can be seen there.
4. The regulation of our university does not allow the teaching subject that they did not come to the minimum number of student required. For that reason, after doing the enrolment, it could happen that a subject has to be cancelled for not coming to the minimum number of student required. In this case, it is possible to change the enrolment in order to choose other subject.
5. Teaching guides of subjects are available on the website of the Universitat de València. It is recommend to read teaching guides, especially when is related with some subjects requirements (for instance, in Biodiversity and Animal Conservation specialisation, it is compulsory for those who do their enrolment for Biology and Bird Conservation to do their enrolment for Biology and Mammalian conservation too, and vice versa.
6. For Diversity and Ecosystems’ Conservation specialisation is necessary to organize an outing to the countryside during the second semester. It is organized by the “Methods for the ecosystems’ study”. In this outing, optional subjects of the pathway such as “Invasions”, “Limnology” and “Birds as indicators of state of ecosystems’ conservation” will participate. Therefore, for content and organisational issues, is recommend it that these optional subjects associated with the pathway must be chosen, because they are related.
7. At the beginning of the school year, the offered list of Master’s Degrees Final Project will be presented as well as the Internships offer.
