The Master's Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies: Applications and Research offers specialised academic and research training. The flexible design of the Study Plan aims to address these two main objectives. On the one hand, it intends to provide an academic orientation that can be applied in a professional field (teaching, cultural management, editorial field...), further understood as a deepening in the knowledge and development of Hispanic Studies. On the other hand, the Master's programme also serves as an instrument for students interested in a specialisation in research in Spanish language, literature and Hispanic theatre, thus offering specific research-oriented modules. These academic and research orientations are reflected in each of the three proposed pathways (see Master's Programme).

This Master's programme is taught by lecturers in the Department of Spanish Philology, attached to the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication. It is responsible for the Degree in Hispanic Studies: Spanish Language and Literatures, as well as the Master's and Doctoral programmes in Advanced Hispanic Studies. The Department, internationally recognised for its teaching and research excellence, is made up of three teaching units: Spanish Language, Spanish Literature and Portuguese, in which the teaching staff and their respective lines of research are registered (available in the tab dedicated to the Master's Final Project (TFM); see Master's Programme on this website). The Department is committed to an open and modern conception of philological work, based on interdisciplinary dialogue, a critical perspective and the development of new and interconnected methodologies that revitalize the knowledge of language and enliven its contribution to scientific and cultural discussion, explore and interpret historical processes and cultural debates, giving them a humanist meaning.
