Last week took place in Brussels the Annual Single Market Forum.This year it focused around remodeling the professions through regulations and mutual evaluation. Spanish Advocates Delegation in Brussels came to the meeting.

Elzbieta Bienkowska, Internal Market, Industry and Growth Commissioner pointed out the leading role regulated professions have in economy and society. “The fact that 12 member states need a reform programme is not a coincidence”, explained Bienkowska, who maintained that the main problem is that the European Union does not fullfil the goals in matters of services in their territory. So that it is necessary to follow the national recommendations of the European Semester during the first six months of the year, when member states adjust their budgetary and economical policies according to the European directive.

The EC will publish during the following days a new public enquiry in order to reassess each one of the programmes

The EC has initiated a series of self-evaluation exercises to set better regulations in terms of:

  • Public access to documents through new technologies;
  • Normative modernisation;
  • Elimination of redundancies.

National plans which generate great profits for the economy of each member state, were created with the aim of adapting different regulations to current times. To do so, the EC will publish during the following days a new public enquiry in order to reassess each one of these plans in order to improve future actions, to provide them with direction and make changes in profesional and national specifications.

For her part, Lowri Evans, Director of Growth, intervened in the conference to emphasise that the European Economy is a priority for the current European Commission and its member states. So that we must revitalise it and protect the consumer. The importance of european economy has been decisive so that the EC has carried out evaluation exercises in regulated professions.

Antonio Maudes, from the National Commission of Markets and Competence, also participated in the conference. He assured that “competence is an instrument that can be used for smart regulation both at a national and autonomous level”.
