Biography
 

Professor of Philosophy of Law. Teacher at the Department of Philosophy of Law and Politics and researcher at the Institute of Human Rights. Graduate and Doctor in Law from the Universitat de València Estudi General. She has been director of the University Institute of Human Rights at the University of Valencia (2005-2010) and Secretary General of the University (2010-2018).

Ph degree in Law (1986), six five-year teaching periods and six six-year research periods.

Her research deals with topics specific to the philosophy of law and human rights. Among them: interpretation and argumentation in human rights, social rights, equality and anti-discrimination law, immigration, law and gender perspective, access to justice, theory of law and legal argumentation.

In the research field, her doctoral thesis received the national prize for social and political theses from the Centre for Constitutional Studies in 1987. Her research deals with topics specific to the philosophy of law and human rights. Among them: interpretation and argumentation in human rights, social rights, equality and anti-discrimination law, immigration, law and gender perspective, access to justice, theory of law and legal argumentation. She is the author of articles in specialized journals, book chapters and monographs in the aforementioned thematic areas. She is the director of seven doctoral theses. She has been a member of numerous research projects, most notably: Consolider-Ingenio-2010: "The Age of Human Rights" (HURI-AGE) led by the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and including 12 human rights research groups. Principal researcher of two projects on human rights, integration and global justice within the framework of the Prometeo programme for groups of excellence of the Generalitat Valenciana, she has also carried out her research within the framework of national R+D+I programmes since 1993 without interruption.

He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the University of Valencia in subjects related to the area of knowledge: theory of law, philosophy of law, legal sociology, legal argumentation and human rights since 1984. As well as teaching in the third cycle in masters and doctoral programmes in different Spanish and Latin American universities. Currently, he has a Master's Degree in Law, Business and Justice, a Master's Degree in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice and a Master's Degree in Law and Gender Violence.

She has directed the Journal Anuario de Filosofía del Derecho (2006-2015), Cuadernos Electrónicos de Filosofía del Derecho and is coordinator of the publication Teoría y Derecho. Revista de Pensamiento Jurídico, since 2007. She is a member of many editorial committees, participates in the evaluation of research projects of different agencies and has been a member of academic juries in the legal field.

Institutional responsibilities. Secretary of the Department of Philosophy of Law (1993-1998). Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law (1998-2001). Director of the Human Rights Institute (2005-2010). Secretary General of the University of Valencia (2010-2018).

Biography
 

Juan Bataller Grau is a full professor of Business Law at Universitat de València. He graduated in Law in 1992 at the University of Valencia, where he obtained an Extraordinary Award for his Degree. He did his PhD in 1996 at the same university, and his doctoral thesis received an Extraordinary Doctorate Award.

He is director of Revista de Derecho del Sistema Financiero (Thomson Reuters Aranzadi);  Chair of the Work Group of Governing and Supervising Private Insurances of AIDA-Spain, member of group «Restatement of Internacional Reinsurance Contract Law» (PRICL), and member of the Scientific Board of the Spanish Journal of Insurances (Revista Española de seguros). Furthermore, he was Member of Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group of European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) Member of COMMISSION EXPERT GROUP ON A EUROPEAN INSURANCE CONTRACT LAW (Commission Decision 2013/C 16/03 of 17 January 2013), member of the Valencian Community’s Observatory of Civil Law, founder member of the European network of excellence “Restatement of European Insurance Contract Law” (PEICL).

He has ample experience and worked in legal counselling and has been offering his services for 25 years to important economic corporations, prestigious business associations and different public administrations.

Currently, she is Assistant Professor Doctor of Private International Law at the University of Valencia. Previously, she was Researcher in Training at the University of Valencia and beneficiary of the Scholarship for the Training of University Professor of the Spanish Ministry of Universities (FPU 2017).

PhD in Law from the University of Valencia (cum Laude). Double Degree Program in Law and Political Science at the University of Valencia, with extraordinary prize in both degrees. Official Master's Degree in Law, Business and Justice from the same University, also with an extraordinary prize, as well as the Master's Degree in Access to the Legal Profession of the UNED. Subsequently, Doctoral Program in Law, Political Science and Criminology of the University of Valencia.

Author of several publications, contributions in Congresses and seminars, related to Private International Law on family matters, as well as collaboration in the organization of International Congresses. Highlighting, among them, the book “Menor y responsabilidad parental en la Unión Europea” (“Children and Parental Responsibility in the European Union”), published in 2021 by the publisher Tirant Lo Blanch. Likewise, teacher of the compulsory degree subject of Private International Law. Additionally, it should be highlighted the participation in research projects such as the European Action Grant Project "MiRI – Minor's Right to Information in civil actions – Improving children's right to information in cross-border civil cases".

Finally, she has been beneficiary of different scholarships for stays abroad, such as the four-month research stay at the University Paris II Phanteon-Assas, under the supervision of Profa. Sabine Corneloup or the Max Planck Society, in cooperation with the Lindemann Foundation, Scholarships 2022 for International Reasearchers. Likewise, winner of the XXII Manuel Broseta Pont University Legal Studies Award.", Manuel Broseta Pont Foundation.

Associate professor in Procedural Law Department. Degree in Law and in Business Administration (University of Valencia, 2009),  Executive Master in Business Law (Centro de Estudios Garrigues, 2012), Master's Degree in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice (University of Valencia, 2014) and PhD in Law (University of Valencia, 2018).

Her current research focuses on procedural mechanisms for the protection of human rights, both judicial and extrajudicial, an area in which the study on the protection of environmental rights through the criminal justice system should be highlighted. She has also worked on other aspects related to procedural rights and guarantees, such as the right to defence, the right to appeal or the admissibility of witness evidence, among others. She has been visiting researcher in the following centres: Universidad Central de Chile, Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law (Heidelberg), Centre for Environmental and Global Justice (Northumbria University), Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (University of Oslo), International Association Human Rights Institute (London).

Member of the MEDARB research group at the University of Valencia and Head of the Criminal Procedural Law Section of the Ibero-American Law Institute. She has participated in several research projects, including Prometeo GVA 2018/111 "Claves de la justicia civil y penal en la sociedad del miedo" and Prometeo GVA 2014/081 "ADR y Justicia: ¿'Glocalización o glocalización?". She is currently a member of the research project "Claves para una justicia digital y algorítmica con perspectiva de género" (PID2021-123170OB-I00) of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

Also, significant post-graduate teaching experience: in the Master’s Degree in Corporate Law and in the Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, both from the Universitat de València; Master’s Degree in Law Practice (UV-ICAV); M.S. of Labour Law by the Universidad de Talca (Chile).

In 2019 he completed the fifth teaching five year period.

Research experience

Author of different monographies: by himself (4) and co-authored (3), as well as different book chapters and articles in specialised journals (over 80). Also, he has participated in different financed R&D research projects. All this has resulted in the recognition of three six year period research (1995-2005; 2006-2011; 2012-2017) and one six year period.

The research lines developed are varied, albeit the main ones are related to:

  • - The business productive reorganisation and, in particular, the intervention of the representatives of workers in it.
  • - The analysis of the labour treatment of productive decentralisation
  • - The termination of the employment contract
  • - The Spanish system of collective bargaining, both from a theoretical and a practical perspective.
  • - The protection system of dependent people.
  • - The labour process, subject in which he is co-author of a manual that has reached its third edition.
  • - The gender-based discrimination and protection of motherhood.

* Licenciado en Derecho con Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura y Doctor en Derecho por la Universitat de Valéncia (UVEG). Profesor de Derecho Mercantil de dicha Universidad desde 1981. Actualmente es Profesor Titular de Universidad de su Departamento de Derecho Mercantil “Manuel Broseta Pont”, del que ha sido Director entre 2013 y 2017.

  • Fundador y miembro del IUDESCOOP (Instituto Universitario de Economía Social y Cooperativa de la UVEG). Fundador y miembro de GI+dPI (Grupo de I+D sobre Propiedad Intelectual e Industrial de la UVEG). Codirector y autor de la Sección de Jurisprudencia de la Revista Española de Seguros (hasta el año 2005).   • Su actividad docente se ha desarrollado desde 1980 en las Licenciaturas y Grados de Derecho, de Economía, de Dirección y Administración de Empresas y de Biotecnología y en la Doble titulación ADE/DERECHO de la Universitat de Valéncia, así como en diversos Masters en universidades españolas y extrajeras. Valencia, 1986. Pablo Quinzá Redondo is Lecturer of Private international law at the Universitat de València. He holds a degree in Law (2010) and Business Management and Administration (2010), a Master’s degree in Corporate Law (2012) and he is Doctor in Law by the Faculty of Law of the Universitat de València (2015). Author of several articles in national and international journals. His areas of knowledge are International Private Law regarding family and succession and Interregional Law.
