The RD1393/2007 of 29 October, amended by RD 861/2010 of 2 July, establishing the arrangement of university official teachings in Spain, indicates that the teachings for completing the Master’s Degree should be finished with the preparation and defence of a Master’s Degree Final Project (TFM) of 6 and 30 credits according with the established in the corresponding curriculum.

Concept

The Master’s Degree Final Project consists in the preparation of a report or project under the supervision of a tutor in which is showed the knowledge and competences acquired by students during their master’s studies.
These projects are an autonomous and personal task by students. The projects should be made according with the regulations of the verification report of the Master’s Degree.

The Academic Coordinating Committees of each Master’s can establish specific guidelines and assessment criteria for standardising the preparation and assessment of the Master’s Degree Final Project. In this case, the Academic Coordinating Committee has to send a copy of these guidelines to the Postgraduate Studies Committee in order to ensure that its contents are compliant with the regulations.

Types

The types of Master’s Degree final projects are the following:

  • Academic revision works and bibliographical or experimental research works.
  • Works coordinated with work placements at companies or institutions.
  • Equivalent works developed as the result of a stay in other Spanish or foreign university.
  • Other works not included in the previous modalities as specified in the verified curriculum.

In any case, all works should be a written report or project, which should attach, where appropriate, the material necessary
