Admission requirements to the specialisation in FP (Vocational training) - Business, Tourism and Marketing 

Those who hold a degree (Licenciatura orDiplomatura) in Business Science, ADE, Economy, Tourism, Research and Market Techniques, Finances and Accounting, International Business, Actuarial and Financing Sciences, Labour Relations, Labour Science, Advertising and Public Relations, Political and Administration Sciences, Public Management and Administration, three year degree in Industrial Organisation Engineering, and Sociology can access this specialisation without having to take the entrance examination.

Those students that do not confirm having taken any of the degrees previously mentioned must have to pass an entrance examination that confirms their command – at a university degree level – of the competencies related to this specialisation. The examination will deal with the contents that are included in the following syllabus.

Syllabus for the entrance examination to the specialisation in Business, Commerce and Tourism

1. Entrepreneurship. Innovation and economic development. Main characteristics of innovation. Social benefits of the entrepreneurial culture. 

2. The entrepreneurial nature. Key factors of entrepreneurs: initiative, creativity and training. Performance of entrepreneurs. Risks in the entrepreneurial activity. 

3. The concept of businessman/woman. Requirements for the conduct of business activities. Personal objectives versus company objectives. 

4. Business and its environment. Company as a system. Basic functions of the company. Different forms of organisation. The organisation chart.

5. The main environment of the company. Economic, social, demographic, cultural and environmental surroundings. The specific environment of the company: clients, suppliers and competence.

6. Market research. Marketing planning.

7. Corporate culture and corporate image. Company ethics and ethical principles and principles. Contribution of the company to sustainable development.  Corporate social responsibility.

8. Creation and setting in motion of a company. Legal concept of the company. Types of companies and selection of the legal form. Administrative processes for the establishment of a company.

9. Concept of investment and financing sources. Financial banking tools. Aids, grants and tax incentives. Economic-financing viability.  

10. The business plan. Selecting a legal form, study of economic and financing viability, administrative processes and management of aids and grants. 

11. Concept of accounting and basic notions. Accounting operations: registry of economic information of a company. Accounting as a  faithful image of the economic situation.

12. Analysis of the accounting information. Compulsory books and documents according to the latest regulations in force. Balance sheet and profit and loss account.

13. Taxation of the company. Tax liabilities of companies. Requirements and periods for handing out official documents. 

14. Administrative management. Compulsory documents for the development of economic activity. Contracts of sale, payment methods and others.

15. Foundation, nature and proposal of business and body management in the area of hotel industry and tourism. Functions and objectives. Evaluation of the main historical contributions to the business management theory. 

16. Corporate planning in hotel industry and tourism. Evaluation of its importace. Types of corporate plans. Justification of the corporate process.

17. Budget management and control y control in hotel industry and tourism companies and bodies. Justification. Concept and purpose of the budgets. Budgetary cycle. Budget types. Non-budgetary corporate control tools. Programming and control techniques. Time computation methods.

18. The accounting cycle in the companies of the hotel industry and tourism sector. Formalisation of the profit and loss account and the balance sheet. Adaptation to the General Plan of Accounting to the hotel industry and tourism companies.
