The Universitat of València is the better second centre to study Medicine in Spain according to the prestigious Ranking Academic of the Universities of the World elaborated by the University of Shanghái, with 292,4 points. The first position between the centres of our country is for the University of Barcelona, with an assessment of 317,6 and the third for the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with 277,3.
The Autonomous University of Madrid, with 269,5 points, and the University Pompeu Fabra, with a punctuation of 262,6, occupy the fourth and fifth position of the listing. The following places are for the University of Navarra, the Universidad Complutense of Madrid, the University Miguel Hernández of Elche, the University of Girona and the University of The Lagoon.
This classification makes from the year 2003 and at present is annual. The universities are ordered of agreement to a formula that takes in account the number of awarded with the Nobel prize or the Medal Fields; the number of researchers highly quoted; the number of articles published in the scientific magazines Science and Nature; the number of academic works registered in the indexes of the Science Citation Index and the Social Science Citation Index; and the production per capita, that is to say, the punctuation of all the previous indicators divided between the number of academicians to complete time.
