Biographical outline:

Enric Valor i Vives was born in Castalla in 1911.
He studies Catalan language and literature practically self-taught.

At nineteen he began to collaborate with the satirical magazine El Tio Cuc, from where he promoted the adoption of the spelling of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.
In times of the Republic, he intensifies his task as a journalist, writer and political activist. He founded the Regionalist Agrupació Alcantina, nationalist. At the same time he collaborates regularly in the Valencian nationalist press, such as El Camí, El País Valencià and La República de les Lletres.

From a very young age, Enric Valor collaborates with the contribution of lexical materials from southern Valencia for the creation of the Diccionari Català-Valencià-Balear. It is also the main disseminator of the factory spelling and defender of the rules of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans adapting them to the Valencian modality. Titles such as Valencian Language Course (1966), Millorem el llenguatge (1971), Curs mitjà de gramatica catalana, referred to the País Valencià (1977) and La flexió verbal (1983), among others, have been of great importance for the teaching and dissemination of the language of Valencià Country.

After the war he participated actively in clandestine gatherings and between 1966 and 1968 he was imprisoned. From the arrival of democracy, Valor began to be recognized as a classic author of a great grammatical authority.
