Biographical outline:

He was born in Ciutadella (Menorca) on October 10, 1903.

After 1921, after leaving ecclesiastical studies and moving to Mallorca, he began working alongside Father Alcover in the preparation of the Diccionari català-valencià-balear. He collaborated in the Bolletí del Diccionari of the Catalan language, publishing a Mallorcan Orthography (1931). In 1933, it dissolved the Alcover publishing house and founded the Library of the Illes d'Or.

During the Civil War, the publication of the Diccionari was interrupted, while Francesc is dedicated to teaching, creating methods for learning modern languages.

In 1949 he returned to the development of the Diccionari, which will see the definitive edition in 1962. He founded the magazine Raixa and the collection of books of the same name.

In the decade of the seventies he also wrote memoirs, biographies such as Un home de combat (Father Alcover) and universities and institutions recognized his work with the appointment as Doctor Honoris Causa: Universities of Basel, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Baleares. He was also Vice Chancellor of Estudi General Lul·lià.

He was awarded the Premi d'Honor de les Lletres Catalanes in 1971, and in 1981 the Medal d'Or of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
