André Constant Van Steirteghem is the author of revolutionary research in the field of male infertility treatment and in the diagnosis of monogenic diseases in human embryos, which have prevented the hereditary transmission of serious diseases.
Also in the field of assisted human reproduction, Van Steirteghem leads the avant-garde group in the idea of transferring a single embryo to the uterus, which has allowed the disappearance of multiple gestations. Initially trained as a pediatrician, his professional career evolved towards the basic aspects of human development and the reproductive biology. He has been recognised as a world leader in this field. Over the last ten years, Van Steirteghem has worked closely with the University of Valencia.
