José Baselga Torres (Barcelona, 1959), is full university professor of Medicine of Harvard University, head of the Department of Oncology in the Massachusetts General Hospital and director of the Research Institute of Oncology in the University Hospital of Vall d’Hebron.

Doctor in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Barcelona, he has been professor in the Cornell University of New York and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, researching doctor in the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Hospital and head of the Doctoral Oncology service of the University Hospital of Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona.

He has obtained the Jaume I award in doctoral research, the gold medal from the Reina Sofía Institute of New York, the Rosenthal Family Foundation award of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Scientific Excellency award in medicine of the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) of New York, among others.

He is author of more than 260 scientific works published in international magazines. Since 2010 he is head editor of the Cancer Discovery magazine of the AACR. His contributions have been essential for the knowledge of biology and the treatment of breast cancer, as well as for the development of new drugs against molecular target.
