Biographical outline:

His long and productive research career began at the University of Seville, where he completed a Licenciatura (Spanish former Undergraduate Degree) in Sciences between 1964 and 1969 and where he made his doctoral thesis under the direction of the Professor Pi Pérez, 40 years ago. The quality of the research of Miguel Valcárcel Cases is not guaranteed only by his more than 800 publications in prestigious scientific journals, which have received in bibliography more than 10, 900 quotations, but also the 250 conferences that he has taught in Spain and more of 50 abroad.

He is advisor of the Conference of Principals of Spanish Universities and member of the Working Party of the Analytical Division of the European Federation of Chemical Associations.

His research activity is supported by numerous awards: Enric Planquette of the Austrian Chemical Society, the Gold Medal of the University of Warsaw and the Portuguese Society of Chemistry, the Solvay Award of the CEOE, the Enrique Moles National Award of Chemistry, the Maimonides Award of Andalucia, the Averroes Oro and the Antonio Hidalgo Award. He is honorary member of the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry and member of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Madrid.
