Paul Preston

Biographical outline:

Paul Preston (Liverpool, United Kingdom, 1946) is Professor Prince of Asturias at the London School of Economics and Political Science and a member of relevant institutions and cultural centers such as the European Academy Foundation in Yuste. He previously taught at the University of Reading and Queen Mary University of London universities.

Formed at the universities of Oxford and Reading, he has a recognized scientific career that proves him as one of the most outstanding contemporary historians. Continuing with the long tradition of British Hispanicism, his first works, such as 'The destruction of democracy in Spain' or 'Spain in crisis', constituted a powerful stimulus for the development of Spanish historiography.

Author of dozens of works, recently published the extensive study 'The Spanish Holocaust. Hate and extermination in the civil war and after.

Professor Preston has been recognized with the Encomienda of the Order of Civil Merit and the Ramon Llull International Prize, among other distinctions. Member of the British Academy, Appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire, is also a knight of the Great Cross of Isabel la Católica.
