Deyermond was born in Cairo in 1932, but his family soon moved to Liverpool, first, and the Channel Isles, afterwards. Since very young he felt attracted to classical Spanish literature, especially to works as the Poema del Mío Cid, Libro de buen amor (The Book of Good Love) and La Celestina. He is author of numerous books and articles, and he imparted lectures in more than a hundred of universities all over the world. Since very young taught in the Westfield College in London.
