Biographical outline:

Avelino Corma, was born in Moncofa (Castelló). He studied Chemistry at the University of Valencia (1967-1973) and completed his doctoral studies at the Complutense University of Madrid in 1976. He made his doctoral project under the direction of the Professor Antonio Cortés Arroyo at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemicals (CSIC). After two years of postdoctoral studies at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Queen’s University of Canada he became scientific collaborator of the CSIC. In 1986 he acquired the category of Scientific Researcher and in 1987 of Research Professor. Since 1990 he developed his scientific work at the Institute of Chemical Technology, joint centre between the Higher Council for Scientific Research and the Universitat Politècnica de València. He worked on molecular design of catalysts and in sustainable catalytic processes in the fields of hydrocarbon refining and biomass-derived and fine chemicals.

He has published over 900 articles in international journals, he has written three books and numerous revisions. He is member of the Publishing Committee of the most important journals in the field of catalysis.

He is the author of over 100 patents, 10 of them for commercial exploitation.
