Biographical outline:

José Ignacio Gabilondo Pujol, known as Iñaki Gabilondo (San Sebastián, 1942), is radio and television journalist since 1963, after graduating in Journalism in the University of Navarra. Since then, he has practised the journalist activity by occupying almost always direction positions, among others in the following media: San Sebastián's Radio Popular, Radio San Sebastián, Radio Sevilla, Cadena SER in Madrid, Televisión Española (Spanish Television), Radio-TV 16, Cuatro TV, Plus Channel and, currently, he takes part in El País and in SER channel with the videoblog ‘La voz de Iñaki’ (Iñaki's voice).

Among his most known and listened programs are ‘Hora 25’ and ‘Hoy por hoy’ (for 19 years) from SER channel, ‘Noticias Cuatro’ and ‘Hoy’ de Canal +, besides having been director of the TVE (Spanish Television) news during the coup d'état of February 23, 1981. Among his books, we must point out ‘Testigo de la historia’ (2005), ‘Verdades como puños’ (2009) and ‘El fin de una época. Sobre el oficio de contar las cosas’ (2011).

For his standing professional trajectory he has received numerous Spanish and international awards, as the Ondas award (six times), the radio's Ortega y Gasset, the Gonzalo de Berceo, the Turia of journalism, that from the Press International Club, the Francisco de Cerecedo, the Luis Carandell of parlamentarian journalism or the Clara Campoamor. He has also been recognised by his professional integrity and his unequivocal democratical disposition with diverse distinctions and gold medals, such as Ghandi's, UNESCO's highest distinction in favour of peace and non-violence.
