Biographical outline:

Oliver E. Williamson is a Professor of Business Administration, Economics and Law at the University of California, Berkeley. He is currently considered one of the most influential economists in social science research and the most relevant author in the field of the Economics of Organizations. His contributions not only cover the Economy, but also Sociology, Anthropology and Law. His prolific work is recorded in 6 books, around 150 articles and a whole series of published books and collections of articles.

In the field of economics, his contribution to the systematic treatment of transaction costs and to the analysis of the company's limits has been influential in the areas of general economy, organization of marketing and finance companies. It is enough to review the journals with the greatest impact in these areas to find their extensive work constantly referenced.
As a result of this research work, he has been awarded countless prizes and with the title "Doctor Honoris" caused by the universities of Chile, Copenhagen Business School. Groupe HEC (Paris), St. Petersburg University, Tui-ku School of Economics, Groningen University, Hochschule St. Gallen, and Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration.

He is editor of the prestigious journals Journal of Law Economics and Organization, Joumal of Economic Behavior and Organization among others. He has been vice president of the American Economic Association, president of the International Society for New Institutional Economics, as well as the American Law and Economics Association and the Western Economics Association.
