Biographical outline:

Londa Schiebinger (Lincoln, US, 1952) is a John. L. Hinds Professor of Science History in the Stanford University, where she also conducts postgraduate studies in the Department of Science History. She is the co-chair for Sex and Gender in Public Health, in the Stanford Centre for Population Health Research.

She is the director of the programme Gendered Innovations in Science, Health & Medicine, Engineering and Environment, financed by the EU and the US. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska and her Master’s Degree and Doctorate in History from Harvard University. She obtained several grants such as Fullbright, Rockefeller and the National Science Foundation.

Being a recognised international authority in gender and science, her remarkable research activity has focused on the participation of women in science throughout history and in gender in the structure of scientific researches and human knowledge.

Author of numerous publications, many of her books have been globally laureate, being awarded with several prizes and recognitions such as the Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize, the Atlantic History Prize and the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellow. She is also Honorary Doctorate of the universities of Vrije (Brussels) and Lund (Sweden).
