Leo Lorenz (Haibach, Alemania, 1946) is an honorary professor in the Ilmenau University (Germany) and also pre-tenured professor in the polytechnic universities of Hong Kong, Zheijiang and Xian Jiaotong.  He is also member of the Chinese and German Academy of Science, and governmental technology consultant in Europe, United States, Japan and China.

He has a degree in Engineering by the Technische Universität Berlin and is doctor in the same subject by the Universität der Bundeswehr München. He was member of the R&D Department of Power Electronics of AEG, Senior Director of the Power Semiconductors Division of Siemens, Senior Principal in Infineon Technologies, whose general direction is currently advised by him in the field of power semiconductors and advanced systems of the engineering of the future.

The doctor Lorenz is a world-renowned expert for his contributions within the field of power semiconductors. His outstanding contributions in this field have been embodied in more than 400 publications in magazines, talks in congress and more than 50 registered international patents and have been recognised with the awards Gerald Kliman Innovator Award, William E. Newell Power Electronics Awards, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineersand the Ernst Blicke Preis.
